About Safety NW The TUC campaigns for safer workplaces and helps unions and health and safety reps tackle problems at work. The TUC strongly supports the role that safety reps can play in creating better health and safety standards. Safety studies reveal that serious accident and ill health levels are lower in unionised workplaces. You are twice as likely to be injured in a non-union workplace. From their earliest days, trade unions have treated health and safety at work as one of their concerns. Today, unions bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to workplace safety:
The key to all this is the work carried out by the thousands of trades union safety reps. Without them work would be much more dangerous and with them workers can look forward to greater protection and healthier and safer workplaces. This web site has been established by the TUC in the North West to support union safety representatives, to give easy access to advice and information and to provide a forum for the exchange of information and experience with other safety reps.
